Icon has won the construction contract for a new office building at 600 Lonsdale, beating tenders submitted by Multiplex and Hacer Group.

The 42-storey tower will include almost 30,000 square metres of office and retail space. It will replace a three-storey building on the corner of Lonsdale and King Streets, currently being demolished.

Other notable features included in the build are:

  • A 2,000 square metre wellness centre
  • A 1,200-square-metre sky lobby
  • A gallery and meeting space

Original plans for the site included a 288-suite hotel. However, developer V-Leader submitted a modified planning application in April this year, replacing the hotel with office space.

The win tops up an already impressive pipeline for Icon, who is also leading the construction of a $500 million build-to-rent project at Fisherman’s Bend on behalf of client Greystar.
