Global developer Gamuda Land has appointed Crema Constructions to deliver its 20-level apartment development, The Canopy on Normanby.
Crucially, Crema will help Gamuda Land achieve a suite of sustainably-led energy solutions at the project – including a few Melbourne-first innovations.
This includes developing a Ground Source Heat Pump, installed within the building’s foundation piles. The heat pump will draw and store thermal energy from underground, reducing power bills and providing sustainable energy for the building. It will be the first time a Ground Source Heat Pump will be used in a residential setting.
Crema will also partner with Piave Premix Concrete, their in-house supplier, for sustainable concrete mixes for the project’s foundation.
Managing Director of Crema, Louis Crema, discussed his excitement in partnering with Gamuda Land for a second time.
‘Having worked closely with Gamuda Land before, we have no doubt that The Canopy will be one of the most unique projects in the area, and we’re excited to be a part of bringing it to life.
‘Crema has been based in the Fishermans Bend precinct since the 1980s, so to be able to play a hand in its evolution from an industrial area to a premium place to live and work is incredibly satisfying for both the business and the family.’
The Canopy on Normanby marks the second time Gamuda Land and Crema have collaborated. They previously worked on 661 Chapel Street, which went on to win best Commercial & Residential Design at Architectural Design’s 2019 Good Design Awards.
